This year the Oscar's pick for best movie Slumdog Millionaire was a surprising treat. The children who did the acting in this film are fantastic.I thought it was a unique way of telling the story of these three young children. Telling it through the eyes of Jamal the young man on India's version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and traveling back in time with him to the events that got him on the show was clever. I even thought the touch of Bollywood ending in closing credits was fun. Over all this was a great movie that makes your heart go out to the homeless chidren of India.

New Local Author
I’m happy to announc that we have a new addition to the Local Authors Collection here at the library. The new addition is the debut novel from Liza Gyllenhaal, Local Knowledge. Local Knowledge is the of “Maddie Alden has always longed for more than her small town could offer. Now that it's being overrun by wealthy New Yorkers looking for a respite from the city, Maddie has gotten herself a lucrative new job in real estate. And her first sale brings her a charismatic new friend who is everything Maddie longs to be. Little does Maddie realize that the glamorous Anne will shake up her quiet marriage - and will force Maddie to face the truth about the past, and the terrible secret she shares with her husband and his best friend…”
Many people in town have brought this book to my attention and have truly enjoyed this novel. I was also told to expect to read about places in the area that we all know and love.
